To make art is to respond, reflect, and resolve
Studio
The Studio at The 3 Brushes, LLC reflects my creative practice as both an art therapist and an artist. It brings together a curated portfolio of original artwork, creative workshops, and community events that invite exploration, connection, and creative expression.
My artwork includes original pieces, sketchbook studies, workshop examples, and process-based explorations shaped by curiosity, experimentation, and creative inquiry.
Feel free to explore the Studio Shop for current available artworks and products.
My work explores themes of grief, loss, renewal, change, nature, embodiment, and the human experience, considering how art can create space for reflection, meaning-making, emotional expression, and personal growth.
I work across a variety of materials and approaches, including painting, mixed media, drawing, woodburning, and experimental studio practices. Mistakes, revisions, unfinished work, and unexpected discoveries are embraced as essential parts of the creative process.

914 Silver Spring Avenue, Ste. 101
Silver Spring, MD 20910Come Create & Connect
Join us for a FREE professional meet-and-greet at CREATE Arts Center, centered around creativity, intentional conversation, and making genuine connections with other professionals in the community.
Hosted by Lindsay Downs of The 3 Brushes, LLC
This gathering is an opportunity to step away from the usual networking format and spend some time creating, talking, sharing resources, and getting to know colleagues—both familiar faces and new ones.
Artist Trading Cards & Networking
We'll be creating Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) together.
Each participant may create 1–3 cards to keep and/or exchange with other attendees. No art experience is necessary—just come ready to make something and connect.
You're also welcome to bring:
Business cards
Digital or printed promotional materials
Resources from your organization or practice
Information you'd like to share with other professionals
There will be plenty of room for informal networking and genuine conversation rather than simply exchanging contact information.
This event is open to anyone who works in healthcare or related such as community organizations that support healthcare or are related—not just therapists or art therapists. Feel free to invite colleagues and other healthcare professionals who may be interested in connecting with others in the community.
The event is FREE.
You're welcome to stay for the full 11:00 AM–1:30 PM event or stop by for whatever portion of the gathering works with your schedule.
RSVP
Please RSVP so Lindsay has an idea of how many people may attend and can bring enough art materials for everyone. You’re welcome to simply come and enjoy too! Last minute schedule changes happen.

This experiential art workshop invites participants to slow down, reconnect creatively, and explore expressive art-making in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Participants will create original designs inspired by nature and handmade creative processes while engaging with mindfulness-based art practices focused on observation, texture, movement, and playful experimentation.
This workshop encourages curiosity, relaxation, and creative expression without pressure, perfectionism, or performance. Samples, natural studies, materials, and guided prompts will be provided, with plenty of time for individual exploration and art-making.
Whether you are new to art or have years of creative experience, this workshop is designed to help rekindle a sense of play, reflection, and creative renewal through the process of making art with nature inspired media.
Great for most ages (12+) and all skill levels. Invite a friend, loved one, or family member to share the experience!

Commission Inquiries
Commissioned artwork is offered as a separate creative service and is distinct from art therapy.
Each piece is developed with attention to emotional tone, symbolism, and material exploration. My work often explores themes of grief, loss, transition, healing, and renewal through imagery inspired by people, nature, and lived experience.
I work across a range of materials and approaches, embracing variation and revision as natural parts of the creative process.
Commissioned pieces may be well suited for personal collections, therapeutic spaces, and other environments seeking reflective, meaningful, and human-centered artwork.
Pricing & Availability
Commissions are priced at a flat rate based on the size, materials, medium, and estimated time required for each piece.
Due to clinical and professional commitments, commission availability is limited. I may not be able to accommodate every request.
Shipping
I do not currently offer international shipping. Domestic shipping options vary depending on the size and materials of the artwork, as well as shipping costs. Available options and estimated fees can be discussed during the commission inquiry process.
Inquiries
To inquire about a commission, please complete a commission form.
I aim to respond within 1–2 business days, except during planned leave. Submitting an inquiry does not guarantee acceptance of a commission.
You’re also welcome to contact me by email with questions about the commission process.

To maintain clear professional boundaries and protect the integrity of the therapeutic relationship, The 3 Brushes, LLC does not accept, create, or fulfill commissioned artwork requests, paid creative projects, or private art-making services for current art therapy clients.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Custom or commissioned artwork
Paid or requested creative projects outside of the therapeutic process
Requests for the therapist to create, modify, or complete artwork on behalf of a client
Art-related business transactions between therapist and current clients
Art-making may be used within the context of art therapy sessions as part of the therapeutic process. In this setting, the focus remains on the client’s own expression, exploration, and clinical treatment goals. The art therapist’s role is to facilitate, support, and guide the therapeutic process, not to produce artwork for the client.
While The 3 Brushes, LLC may also maintain a separate professional or creative presence that includes artwork, educational materials, or other offerings, these activities are distinct from clinical art therapy services.
No commercial or creative services are offered to current art therapy clients in order to avoid dual relationships, conflicts of interest, and boundary confusion.
Clients acknowledge that participation in art therapy does not include access to commissioned artwork, private creative services, or artist-for-hire arrangements. Maintaining this separation supports ethical practice, clinical clarity, and the safety of the therapeutic relationship.
Former clients may inquire about creative services after the termination of art therapy; however, such requests are reviewed carefully and may still be declined to preserve ethical boundaries and prevent potential dual relationships or conflicts of interest.
Artwork, Images & Privacy
Current and former client artwork is never used for marketing, promotional purposes, or other business activities.
For workshops and networking events, participants may voluntarily provide permission for the use of artwork they create or images of their participation. Written permission forms are provided when applicable. When images are shared, identifying details: including faces and other recognizable features are removed or edited to help protect participants’ privacy.

Sketchbook play creates space for responsive art-making—following the feedback of the materials, noticing what emerges, and allowing one mark to inform the next without requiring a predetermined outcome. Art Supply Donations
Every creative material has a story. Sometimes, that story continues in the hands of someone new.
If you have gently used art supplies, paper, textiles, found objects, toys, miniatures, or other creative materials that are no longer being used, I welcome the opportunity to give them a second life. Your contribution can support my art therapy practice, personal art-making, and community workshops while reducing waste and supporting a small, local business.
I also welcome contributions from local businesses with surplus inventory or materials that can no longer be sold because of minor cosmetic damage, discontinued stock, or other non-safety-related reasons.
If you are interested in contributing materials, I would be happy to connect and discuss what you have available. Due to space, safety, and clinical considerations, I may not be able to accept every item.
Please note: The 3 Brushes, LLC is not a nonprofit organization, and material contributions are not tax-deductible.
Looking for another place to give your used art materials, hobby kits, and gently used supplies to?
